DIY: CT Super Charger Install

Post by CivicRSA » Sun Mar 28, 2010 6:41 am

I was going to do a complete DIY but decided it is not necessary as the install instructions are so precise and thorough.
I have attached the instructions.
06_Civic_Si_SC_Install.pdf
What I will do here is post pics and do's and dont's that I found out the wrong way.

1. DO NOT LET YOUR AIRCON GAS OUT. This is done to install a spacer in the air-con line. (It does not fit our piping)
2. Have a good set of spanners and sockets small and big. Some of the bolts on the stock manifold are in terrible places.
3. Don't forget to removed the 2 studs at the top of the intake manifold.
4. Jack the front up it makes it easier, even if just one side.

It has begun. PS. Give the wife a tranquiliser

Standard intake in-place

Fuel Injectors and fuel rail and all wiring removed

There are two pics here of a difference in the stock RSP manifold to the Civic Si RBC manifold.
On the left the (PCV) Positive Crankcase ventilation
IMG_1505_1_1.JPG
On the right the Brake Booster vacuum hose
IMG_1504_1_1.JPG
Everything removed. Plug the inlet. It was windy today and there is a construction site across the road. Look at the sand on the plastic window cowl.
IMG_1508_1_1.JPG
Lots of parts removed

Day 2 continues...

CT manifold fitted

It helps to remove the front grill and loosen the radiator mounts
IMG_1527_1.JPG
Here's how I changed the aircon line brackets so it would fit out of the way.
IMG_1533_1.JPG
IMG_1532_1.JPG
ALL DONE, just needs a cleanup and new carbon fibre cover over the injectors...
IMG_1534_1.JPG
IMG_1538_1.JPG
And now I'm ready to start. It was a long hard day. My back was killing me but I had to start it. It was already 7:30pm and dark so I only had time to start, re-check coolant level and a few revs.

HERE IS THE FIRST TURN OF THE KEY. IT FIRED UP IMMEDIATELY

HERE I REV IT A BIT AFTER TOPPING UP COOLANT LEVEL

Will update with final info soon....

Whoooah, buddy that looks like organised chaos. I'd be scared to dismantle my car like that and put it back together without having bolts left over. Good luck :yahoo:

There is no official aftercooler only a new one in the testing by someone. Water/Meth injection would be better.

Here's an e-dyno run that is used on the American sites. It can be quite accurate if logged correctly.

Hows everything running?
What does it feel like to drive?

Good figures those. :)

It going great. I'm using an octane booster to stop the knock.
I will be doing a water/meth injection setup soon.

Give me a call this weekend we can go for a spin.

I heard the unfortunate news about your car. Is it getting fixed? Any news on your Toda yet?

Cool,

My car isn't fixed yet, but it will be soon. :weep:
The Toda has arrived in SA, I'm still trying to track it. Should have it soon though.
I haven't ordered the gasket yet.
Joel only sent the intake the other day so I have to wait a bit longer for that.
CivicRSA wrote:It going great. I'm using an octane booster to stop the knock.
I also get a few (3-7) knocks on a 10min drive, is that acceptable?
What is best to remove knock completely, reduce timing on all tables or reduce timing only where the knock is occurring (i.e. individual cell on 20 degree cam table)??

I'll give you a call if I have time this weekend, would love to check out your SC FN2. :w00t:
