If you own or have owned a FK2, let us know of your experience so far (good and/or bad).

I saw this ad on gumtree this morning:

https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bakkie ... 0908180109

Is it just me, or did the previous owner cut two holes in the boot parcel shelf to retrofit some speakers?

HI kameel
i have a FK2 since last year august ... loving it so far

pros
-rare
-very fast( kill list grows everyday)
- +R mode (makes the car feel like a race car)
-very economical if driven like a normal person lol ( yes it is i got 5.4ltr per 100km- if you drive at 100 on the freeway) - i have proof
-thirsty if driven very hard.. but no more than any modern hot hatch
-HUGE boot (fits two prams and a baby seat and shopping)
-insanely good handling and grip.
-turns heads everywhere i go
-200000 kms warranty
-5 star ncap - ( fk8 is only 4 star)
-best bang for buck hatch

cons
-very firm ride ( not for everyone)
-long front bumper will be prone to scraps and dents if you are not careful
-speedo is blocked by steering wheel sometimes
-alot of brake dust from brembo pads

but everything aside .. this is an amazing car..
i have owned many performance cars and this is one of the most impressive hatches in stock form that i have driven
the car puts a smile on my face every time i see it and drive it

Awesome.

I have heard that the FK2's are a bit hard on the front tyres, would you say this is true?

I didnt know that the FK8 was 4 star, thats interesting.

UK reviews and a few SA reviews all had the same concern, ride quality. I dont know how UK roads are compared to SA roads, but the UK testers complain a lot about ride firmness.

Seen a lot of aftermarket exhaust kits on the UK FK2's already, they sound a lot stronger.

That is some great fuel consumption for 2.0L Turbo car

I don't trust people's opinions on hard rides. Everyone claims the FN2 is absolutely terrible; but I feel most comfortable driving my FN2 than the much more larney Civic Tourer or CR-Z (or Jazz before them). A lot of it probably has to do with the seat shape and feel, combined with your own shape. I've road tripped for hours and hours in the FN2 and never get back pains or all the other complaints people have - but I do get pains from the others.

Only way to know for sure would be to drive around in one for a couple of hours and see how it treats you.

the car is hard on tyres.
the factory fitted contis are great but they are gona need a change soon .. they should last me til 15000kms

and trust me the ride is hard. (feels like coilovers on a stiff setting)
if you dont think this is a hard ride then you obviously havent been in other premium hatches to tell the difference.
it not back breaking .. but after a while on a rough road , you are gona hate it...but get it on a smooth road and the stiff suspension pays off.. the high speed handling is insanely good.

this car makes my S3 feel like a S class... as far as comfort is concerned

from what i hear the fk8 is very smooth on the comfort setting

On other forums as well, drivers recommended fitting michelin pilot sport cup 2 tyres.
