CTR FK2 vs Revo G7 GTI

Post by FT_86_SM_GP » Sun Apr 08, 2018 7:28 pm

Hi guys,

Some fun dicing between a FK2 and Revo G7 GTI
The FK2 is relatively stock at (Drop in filter + e15) and the Revo G7 GTI is modded.
Both cars are on Yoko Advan Neova AD08R's
March 2018 - Zwartkops Raceway

The G7 handled impressively around the corners

Was great fun!

Thanks, was great fun, you KZN Honda guys should make a track day to JHB,
There are a group of Subaru guys that make a trip every year to have a taste,

I assume the scrubing sound was my rear brakes locking up slightly,
Happens to me often on that spesific corner (table top) and with other cars as well.
Other noises around corners could have been because I had a walkie talkie in my car while racing.

Tyres are def not wide enough to cause any issues.

Here is another video of a more severe lock ups around that track (from 0:57 seconds onwards)

Nice vids bud; You seem to stick with the G7 through the corners but you can see the additional Revo grunt on the straights. Any idea what power he was making?

Dyno results from Michelin Cup Round 1 (HM Tuning Dyno) this Jan 2018:
Revo Golf 7 GTI - 303wkw and 533nm
Stock CTR FK2 - 186wkw and 352nm

Some interesting results from Zwartkops Michelin Cup time trials this March 2018:

7th overall - The stock Renault Megane RS (1m13.400) was on bridgestone RE11's
8th overall - The stock clubsport (1m13.432) was on Bridgestone RE11's
9th overall - The stock AMG A45 (1m13.485) was on Yoko Advan AD08R's - with exceptionally skilled / experienced driver
10th overall - The stock CTR FK2(1m14.2) was on Yoko Advan AD08R's
16th overall - The Revo G7 (1m14.7) was on Yoko Advan AD08R's

The Yoko Advan AD08R is a fantastic daily summer tyre, but not the best for competative time trial events - lesson learnt.

That golf is running huge power in comparison. It's almost a non-contest!

The track times do reveal one thing though....

Theres allot of conditional factors that impact the track times on the day, such as traffic, car issues etc,
The Revo G7 only did 2 timed laps compared to other competitors who did between 5 to 12 timed laps.

Im sure if conditions were similar (everyone had clear traffic and the same amount of timed laps / similar tyre compound) the results would be different.

At the end of the day - all the competitors have good sportsmanship/healthy competition among themselves, thats what makes this cup so epic.

If you guys are free on the 12th of May 2018, drop by at VKC for round 4 of the Michelin Cup ZA

Howst bud,
Sorry I cannot remember meeting a Red FN2 with ND plates,
Don't think I have been to the Erasmia area with my car either.

Could have been another guy, last year there was a white FK2 that did Zwartkops around July (July 2017).
