Intake manifold gasket

Post by blackhawk » Wed Nov 14, 2012 8:30 pm

Hey guys, so i've got the hondata img and the instructions aren't 100% clear. I saw a clip on youtube where they installed an RRC intake manifold and it was a huge mission, they removed most of the front end. Do I have to also remove the radiator support to install the img?
In the instructions they talk about topping up the coolant once you're done so does that mean some coolant will spill when i remove the intake manifold? Should I just drain the coolant before I start to avoid getting any into the engine?
Thanks!

No need to remove half of the front end, Just basically need to remove the Induction, T.B., and Intake Manifold...

But to remove the Intake manifold you have to remove the two studs that hold it on the top Using both nuts that you have...
Just place the two bolts on each stud (one stud at a time) and tighten them together on the stud, then place your spanner on the back nut and turn it out, then remove them and do the other one...
Once you done, repeat the process backwards to put them back and you are sorted...

Hope this helps...

No need to drain the coolant, you can just push the pipe down to move everything over it if needed...

Guys just some feedback on this...
You MUST drain the coolant before removing the intake mani to avoid spilling coolant everywhere and possibly having it splash into the no. 4 intake port! There is a coolant port on the mani right next the no. 4 intake port.

I took on this task this week and it was a huge mission for me! Still not done putting it all back together, hopefully will have enough time to have it ready for the dyno day this weekend!

Glad you came right man...
When I did mine (did it twice... Fit and remove) I didnt have any issues with the coolant pipes leaking or splashing...

WAR, has it been bypassed on yours maybe? There's a coolant pipe that goes onto the bottom of the manifold with a port straight into the head. Its to operate the intake air bypass valve.
Anyway, the instructions I got with the gasket didn't say to drain the coolant, but the new one on the Hondata website does say to drain it.
